A warm, friendly setting which provides children with a safe, positive learning environment. We allow  them to explore their personal interests, while making learning fun and interactive.  We accept children from different catchment areas, so please don't hesitate to stop in and chat with our staff about enrolling your child.

We work closely with Gt. Staughton Primary Academy, introducing the children to the concept of 'Big School' through regualar school visits, throughout the children's time at Piglets (not just the final 6 weeks before the Summer school holiday). We work in partnership with the school joining their assemblies, using their library, particpating in gym/sports days and visiting the reception stage classroom and playground. These visits help prepare the children for the transition, and allow them to meet new friends.

Recognising that children are individuals who have different development timelines, children who are not yet toilet-trained can also be enrolled.  This is a worry that many parents have before sending their children to a pre-school setting.  Our staff work closely with parents during toilet-training to work together without any pressure.  Our setting has experience with additional needs, including children who speak English as a 2nd Language.  Patience and consistency is paramount for the child to find their own successes!

About Us

Enrolment is ongoing - registrations for 2016/17 school years are being taken for part-time or full-time students, children aged between 2 and 5 years old.  We take part in the government sponsored initiative to provide free early years education to two, three and four year olds, so funding your child's pre-school education (and giving yourself a few hours break a week) is easy and affordable.

Some children may be eligible for further funding in some circumcumstances, so please don't hesitate to ask the setting.

Providing additional support to working parents

A lot of our children need additional hours particulalry before and after our session times. We work with Spice Childcare organising wraparound care easily. Parents can request that Spice staff walk children to our pre-school before session and vice versa a member of Piglets staff walk the children back to Spice after sessions. We aim to offer the best for all children and making childcare and education easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy for working parents!

Piglets is managed by a voluntary committee of parents and carers.  They are responsible for setting pre-schools policies, employment and management of staff, and fundraising.  They meet half-termly, usually on a week-night at the setting.   The way the committee is run is governed by the setting Constitution, which is available upon request.

Working on the committee provides parents and carers an opportunity to see what goes on 'behind the scenes' of a pre-school - you get a chance to see what is right with the setting, as well as what challenges the setting may be facing.  Parental support is vital to the setting's future.  If you, as a Piglets Parent, think you'd like to be a member of the committee, then please get in touch.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM), usually held in October of each school year.  At the AGM, the standing committee is dissolved and a new committee is elected. Parents will be asked about their interest in being part of the committee when they enroll their child.

Parents of children who have moved on to 'big school' usually decide to end participation on the committee and must be replaced.  If there are are not enough members (3 officers and 2 members) elected, the pre-school will not be allowed to legally operate, so full participation is vital.
